Our main chat this week is triggered by a question from Tracy, who wrote in to ask about “resetting” her PRs as life changes. Here’s a bit of her question:
It’s not realistic for my 39-year-old self as a working mother to compare to my 17-year-old self (no intention of running 5:25 miles again!).
After having my son, I further clarified my PRs so that I would now have “pre-baby PRs” and “post-baby PRs.” It was the motivation I needed to be able to start tracking progress again and not let comparison (even with myself) get in the way.
Now that I am turning 40, I plan to have a new set of PRs in my 40’s decade.
